Julie Bryant, 1988

Julie is president of the Cornell Alumni Association Board of Directors.

She is associate vice president at Ruffalo Noel Levitz, a consulting firm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, that helps colleges attract and retain students. Julie oversees the implementation and interpretation of a group of survey instruments that more than 2,500 colleges have used to measure student satisfaction. She manages a national data base containing more than six million student records, has written numerous annual reports and more than 50 blogs, and makes frequent presentations at conferences and on webinars. Cornell is one of her clients.

In community activities, Julie has been a volunteer worker for the American Cancer Society, Junior Achievement, her Episcopal church and a group that empowers women. She is training to become a certified yoga instructor.

Julie grew up in Cedar Rapids. At Cornell, she majored in English, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude. She was a member of Phi Omega, the dance team and Mortar Board.

“Cornell set the foundation for my career and life,” Julie wrote. “It helped me develop the reading, writing, analytical and presentation skills I use now on a daily basis. It also provided life-long friendships.”

Julie has hosted events for her regional alumni club and sponsored an intern who worked at her firm during the summer. “My greatest joy in being on the alumni board has been the chance to meet and become friends with alums from the 1950s through recent years.”

Julie is married to Brad Oppedahl, a Cedar Rapids realtor. They share three daughters and a granddaughter.
